Customer loyalty and its non importance to Vodafone

I am coming to the end of my latest 2 year contract with Vodafone and contacted customer service to see what offers they had available for existing customers.

I was advised that as I am on an old Infinity contract I am unable to get a reduced price on a new iphone 6.  If I wanted the phone on a reduced price I had to select a new plan from the website offerings.

I indicated that I would consider a new contract (nearly double what I pay now) if Vodafone would provide a loyal customer incentive to make the move as they also would like me to move off the old contract. I was offerred $3 a month off the handset price, that's it!

I have been a customer for 10 years, renewing each of my 2 phones on 24 month contracts. I don't want the phone free but $72 off over 24 months is almost insulting, particularly in light of the increased plan price I would be paying.

I asked the sales support if Vodafone appreciated customer loyalty and he said yes. I said: to me it would appear that the value is very little. He said that there was nothing else he could do.

I'm very disappointed with Vodafone's position in relation to loyal customers and has made me want go elsewhere when I had been happy with my Vodafone relationship to date.
