old computer can't connect to internet through pocket wifi USB cable

Hi guys,  I've been stuck by this for a very long time...I have a 8-years old computer running on windows xp, and trying to connect to the internet through the pocket wifi by USB cable.  The installtion process of the pocket wifi went well, and it's showing connecting to the internet under "network connection", and I can also "ping" some websites in "command" screen successfully (such as "ping www.google.com").  But I just can't browse any website on this computer.  I've tried IE, google chrome, and firefox, and none of them works.   I turned firewall off and change most settings to default and still not working.  The pocketwifi works great when I connect other computers to it either through USB or wifi...

Because this is an old computer left from the previous business owner,  so I'm not sure if there's any important things have been accidently deleted by him...is there any way for me to check it? or anything I need to do to check where exactly is the problem?
